NEHRU ZOOLOGICAL PARK, HYDERABAD, INDIA.

Adoption Plan to Help Conserver Wildlife

Nehru Zoological Park  Welcomes  Corporate Care!

Show that your company cares…….

Mankind has realised the importance of the Wildlife Conservation for the perpetuity of humankind. And it is also important for two reasons; first for the survival of mankind and second that we do not have a right to stop evolutionary processes and destroy all those species which have evolved and came to the earth much before evolution of humankind. Ethically it is our  (the most intelligent animal on the earth) responsibility to protect all other species. After realising this, many protected areas have been established for in-situ conservation of wild animals and similarly, the zoological parks have been established for ex-situ conservation (conserving them out side the natural habitat) of species besides educating the people.

            Today the very concept of Zoos has changed from cages to vast natural at immersion enclosures. These enclosures provide the animals with a living space that closely resembles their natural surroundings. Not only are the animals comfortable, even the visitors have the chance to see the animals in its natural surroundings.

            The Nehru Zoological Park is one of the World top class Zoos where the animals are kept in enclosures which closely resembles the natural surroundings. The  Zoo park aims at  educating the people about wildlife and it’s conservation, achieving the conservation breeding of endangered species and finally providing the people an important recreation place with lot of greenery and grass meadows for relaxing and getting fresh air with out pollution.

            The Zoo park has been accoladed by World renowned conservationists as the best in Asia for keeping many species and breeding many endangered species. Presently it harbors;

             Mammalia- 62 Species- 558 Numbers

             Reptilia-23 Species- 222 Numbers

             Avifauna-154 species- 1160 Numbers

            The maintenance and care of animals housed in Nehru Zoological Park is  an expensive proposition. In addition to providing nutritious food, the animals are also provided with dietary supplements if necessary and also with the best available medical care. The Zoo receives funds from the Andhra Pradesh Government and also some grants from the Central Zoo Authority. Apart  from these, finances are also met through the accruals from the entry fee paid by the public.

            In current scenario of rising costs, the resources available to the Zoo are just enough to meet the essential expenses. Often much needed development work has to take a back seat due to lack of funds. Therefore the Zoo would like to invite philanthropists, institutions and industrial houses to lend a helping hand by donating liberally to the zoo.

            It is not out of place to mention that most of the Zoos around the world have been surviving  with the help of Corporate care and donations received from the people. For example, the famous Sandiago Zoo, receives revenue from it’s entrance fee etc  to a tune of only 40% of it’s total budget. It receives 40% of it’s budget form the corporate institutions and the balance 20% from the people as donations.

            Given a chance, our Indian Corporations & companies, which are eco-friendly in nature, we are sure , would prove that they care more about our endangered wildlife, and never be less than the American corporations and Companies.
