ELEPHANT RIDE, JOY TRAIN FOR CHILDREN
The Children Train and the Zoo Elephant have been providing joy ride to the visitors especially, to the children, old and disabled people. The demand was so much on public holidays that special trips are organised. During the year under report a total of 13,210 people enjoyed Elephant rides and 16,800 enjoyed Train ride.
CHILDREN’S DAY
The Children’s day was celebrated in Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad on 14th of November and on this occasion a total number of 43,664 nos. Children were permitted free entry into the Park.
50th Vanya Prani Saptah
The 50th Vanya Prani Saptah was celebrated in Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad from 1-10-2005 to 07-10-2006 and on this occasion a total number of 9065 children were permitted free entry into the Zoo.The final day was celebrated with a state level program at the Nehru Zoological park on 1-10-2005.
LION SAFARI AND TIGER SAFARI PARKS
The Lion Safari and Tiger Safari Parks Transportation of Visitors was privatized by 51:49 sharing by the Government & Contractor and vehicles (4 Nos Vans) are being provided and maintained by the Contractor. The number of visitors who have visited the Safari parks during the year is Adults 97,519 and Children 33,646.
BATTERY POWERED VEHICLE
One Battery operated Van is provided for use by tourists to go round the Zoo. Each trip duration lasts for (45min.). Mostly the tourist groups who are coming in buses & vans are utilizing the facility introduced to minimize the vehicular traffic inside the Zoo and also to check air pollution. The Visitors both young and old, who like to see the important animal enclosures use this facility more often. During the year, Adults -- 1,314 and Children 236 have availed Battery powered vehicle facility.
PRE-HISTORIC ANIMAL PARK
The Pre-historic Animals Park setup in Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad is being maintained by the Zoological Survey of India. The life size models are popular attraction to the visiting public. A total number of (3) fiberglass models are being exhibited i.e. 1 Brontosaurus 2. Triceratops horridus. 3. Tyrannosaurus rex. The models have been renovated during 2002-03.
FILM SHOOTING
A total number of ( 09 ) permissions were given to shoot feature films in the Zoo during the year under report. The zoo has become one of the important places for film shooting. Permission is accorded by the Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.
CITIZENS’ CHARTER
Keeping in view the government instructions for providing efficient services, a Citizen’s charter has been prepared for this Zoo, is reproduced below. Efforts are being taken to implement the charter in it’s true spirit.
ö Showing the visitors local, National and some international wild animals to
possible extent in natural surroundings.
ö Showing the visitors charismatic animals like Tiger and Lion in their possible
natural habitat in our Safaries and providing proper transport facilities.
ö Showing the visitors some of nocturnal animals, in simulated darkness and providing
proper interpretation.
ö Educating visitors about wildlife with the help of interpretation and Signage boards.
ö Entertain the children with Joy rides on Train at given schedule.

To improve the quality of service we request you to help us in the following way.
1. Keep the Nehru Zoological premises clean. For this avoid littering the green Lawns and Gardens.
2. Avoid bringing polythene covers and plastic covers and cups etc. these may become fatal to the free ranging deers inside the Zoo
3. Avoid teasing animals(pelting the pebbles etc) and feeding the animals, which are offences as per the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.
4. Avoid causing disturbance to the other visitors and the animals
We are committed to constantly revise and improve the services being offered under the charter.
